2023 Tata Nexon facelift vs Hyundai Venue vs Kia Sonet: Ultimate sub-4m SUV battle!

Tata Motors recently took the wraps off the new 2023 Nexon facelift, bringing in a radical new design with a ton of new features. In a segment filled with lucrative offerings from a range of manufacturers, the new Tata Nexon is now arguably the most feature-loaded offering. While the Nexon has been out-selling its rivals in the past months, it will be interesting to see if the Tata SUV can further stretch the lead.

The Tata Nexon’s biggest rivals have been the two Korean cousins, i.e. Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. How does the new Nexon facelift fare against the two? Here is a detailed specifications comparison to help you find the answer –
Dimensions

The Tata Nexon facelift has the same length as the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, while it is the widest among the three. The Sonet is the tallest sub-4m SUV in this comparison, while the Venue and Sonet get a marginally longer wheelbase as compared to the new Nexon.

The Hyundai Venue has the lowest ground clearance, while both Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet have a ground clearance of over 200 mm. That said, the Sonet has the highest amount of boot space on offer i.e. 392 litres as against 382 litres and 350 litres seen on the Nexon and Venue respectively.
Powertrains
The Tata Nexon is offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 118 hp of maximum power and 170 Nm torque, available with 5MT, 6MT, 6AMT as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Also on offer is a 1.5-litre diesel motor that makes 113 hp and 260 Nm, and can be had with either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AMT.

The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet are both offered with the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder NA petrol (82 hp), 1.0-litre three-pot turbo petrol (118 hp) and 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel (114 hp) engine options. Transmission options include manual, clutch-less manual (iMT), dual-clutch auto, and a torque converter auto (Sonet only).

Features
While both the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue are packed up to the brim with features, the new Tata Nexon facelift has set a new bar in the sub-4m SUV segment as far as equipment goes. That said, the features on offer with the Venue include an eight-inch touchscreen with connected car tech, Alexa and Google voice assistant support, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, air purifier, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, four-way powered driver seat, electric sunroof and wireless charger.
The Kia Sonet’s equipment list includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected-tech, electric sunroof, wireless charger, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, air purifier, push-button start/stop, Bose seven-speaker system and so on.

The Tata Nexon offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering-wheel with an industry-first illuminated logo, a best-in-class 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster with navigation display, air purifier, electric sunroof with voice commands, first-in-segment blind-view monitor, wireless charger, wireless smartphone connectivity, JBL eight-speaker system, and much more.
Price
The Hyundai Venue is currently priced from Rs 7.72 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 13.48 lakh for the top-end trim, while the Kia Sonet is currently priced from Rs 7.79 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.89 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

That said, pricing for the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift is yet to be announced. We expect Tata Motors to price the sub-4m SUV from around Rs 8.3 lakh (ex-showroom). We will update this space as soon as the pricing for the new Nexon is announced later this month.
