Court extends Suchana Seth’s custody by 5 days | India News

PANAJI: The Goa children’s court on Monday extended the police custody of Bengaluru-based data scientist and startup founder, Suchana Seth, by five days after the police informed the court that she has not been revealing crucial facts about the alleged murder of her four-year-old son and that they have been conducting investigations through a psychiatrist.
Suchana was earlier remanded in police custody for six days, which ended on Monday.
Calangute police inspector Paresh Naik informed the court that the police also have to subject Suchana to a DNA test.
“She is talking in bits and pieces. She had shown the weapon used to cut her wrist. Certain things she has not disclosed. We are carrying out investigation through a psychiatrist,” Naik said.
When children’s court judge Sayonara Telles-Laad asked Suchana if he had something to say, she did not respond.
The police took Suchana to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim, for a psychiatric test on Monday. They have also conducted a DNA test on her estranged husband, Venkat Raman.
Raman has submitted all the case papers pertaining to the couple’s divorce petition and child custody battle to the Calangute police.
After allegedly killing her son, Suchana hired a taxi and checked out of Hotel Sol Banyan Grande at Candolim, leaving for Bengaluru with the boy’s body stuffed into a bag. She had checked into the hotel with her son on January 6.
Subsequently, the housekeeping staff found blood stains in the room and alerted the police.
