A 42-year-old man has been charged after a bullet went through the wall of a townhouse in Clarington, ultimately landing under a kitchen table on Thursday.

Durham Regional Police say officers responded around 6:40 p.m. to an armed person call at a residence in the Trulls Rd.-Strathallan Dr. area.

The alleged victim was at their kitchen table when they heard a loud noise and felt something strike their leg, police say. A bullet was found under the table.

The alleged victim wasn’t physically injured.
Officers checked the residence and found a bullet-sized hole in the wall near the kitchen table. Th adjoining townhouse was searched to check on the safety of its occupants and police found a bullet-sized hole in that home that coincided with the hole found in the first home.
Police searched the backyards of the residences and found a firearm in the backyard of a townhouse. The homeowner was found nearby and taken into custody without incident.

Jamera Malone, of Clarington, is charged with discharging firearm, unlicenced person possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered with, and possession contrary to court order.
