A woman in her 30s was attacked by a pitbull. Bystanders attempted to help, but when unsuccessful, police were forced to use a taser.

The woman was treated at the scene for dog bites to her chest, arms and legs.

She suffered significant blood loss and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious, but stable condition.

“(There) was blood everywhere. It looked like a murder scene,” one witness said.

“It was something that no one should ever see in their lives.”

Another witness said he heard “a lot of loud screaming and crying”.
