Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam’s ‘Article 370’ faces bigger drop on first Monday than their 2019 blockbuster ‘Uri- The Surgical Strike’ |

Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam first collaborated on the 2019 blockbuster “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” based on the Indian Army’s response to the 2016 Uri attack. Although they were not dating at the time, they grew closer during the film’s promotions and after its release. Their second collaboration, “Article 370,” explores the real-life story of the abrogation of Article 370, which had granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Going by the box office numbers, Article 370 faced a bigger drop on its first Monday as compared to Uri- The Surgical Strike. While Uri on its first Sunday collected Rs 15.10 crore, it dropped by just 29% on Monday to collect Rs 10. 71 crore, whereas Article 370 which had collected Rs 9.60 crore on Sunday, dropped by nearly 66% to collect Rs 3.25 crore, as per industry tracked Sacnilk. It is also being suggested that Article 370 has been a monumental event for the country, there is only a segment of the population which were directly impacted by it, thus it did not not have a mass connect with the audience.
The film currently has no big competition this week, and even in the next week, there are only off-beat films like Aamir Khan and Kiran’s Laapataa Ladies, Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik’s Kaagaz 2 and Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar’s bi-lingual film Operation Valentine releasing.
