Santa Cruz County man pleads to brother’s stabbing death

SANTA CRUZ — A Watsonville man jailed since the 2020 stabbing death of his younger brother faces a 25-year prison term after accepting a negotiated plea deal Friday.

Joseph Keeler, 32, pleaded no contest before Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge Denine Guy to charges of voluntary manslaughter, criminal threats, possession of more than 600 images of child pornography, sexual battery by restraint, eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of residential burglary.
