The remains of 40-year-old Olga Vorobyova were found near a hotel in Moscow district Izmailovo, where the two allegedly met.

Vorobyova is believed to have “taken some drugs and refused to have sex with him, so he cut off her head and ran away,” Shot reported.

Another sex worker, 25-year-old Vlada Skitskaya, is believed to have been killed the following day in her rented highrise in the city’s business district.

Varakin reportedly wanted to “de-stress” after killing Vorobyova but Skitskaya mocked him after he was unable to perform sexually.

He allegedly lunged at her with a knife, but she fought back and managed to injure her attacker.

Skitskaya managed to contact a friend during the attack to say a client was trying to kill her, according to reports, which also stated that neighbours also heard her cries for help.

Police were called but when officers arrived at Skitskaya’s home, she was found stabbed to death.

Officers said there were signs of an attempted beheading.

Varakin had recently been “cured” and released from prison after he was incarcerated in 2010 for the murder of two other sex workers in St. Petersburg who caught him stealing from their purses.

The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Sunday it was investigating the recent murders of two women, without providing details other than that a 25-year-old woman suffered knife wounds during a dispute in a residence in western Moscow.

But Varakin, who appeared in court, allegedly confessed to the two latest killings, according to reports.

Varakin allegedly told authorities he was intoxicated when he committed the murders.

“During the investigative actions, the man admitted his guilt in full and told the investigation that he drank alcohol and used an insignificant reason for a conflict and the commission of subsequent crimes,” Yulia Ivanova, senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow, alleged.

Forensic testing is underway to link Varakin to the deadly slayings of Vorobyova and Skitskaya.
