Asha Bhosle talks about holding a concert at the age of 90; says she is ‘always on stage’ |

Having debuted in singing at the tender age of 10, the legendary Asha Bhosle, now at the remarkable age of 90, asserts that she can still effortlessly deliver 18 songs in succession. This incredible feat is exactly what Bhosle is gearing up for at her upcoming concert on March 9, commemorating her 90th birthday.
At a press conference on Wednesday, the legendary singer expressed her intentions, stating, “If I continue to live, I intend to travel extensively across Maharashtra for shows. My show is named ‘Woh Phir Nahin Aati Hai,’ indicating it won’t happen again. You should never lament not witnessing someone’s performance. People often regret not seeing Kishore Kumar and other singers perform live. But now, you can proudly say you have experienced Asha Bhosle.”

Singing, she emphasized, is her passion. Bhosle revealed that she sang even as a child but embraced professional singing due to circumstances. “I gained name and fame, people started recognizing me. Even though when I am not working, I keep singing. I keep practicing. I never left singing, that’s why my voice is okay even today,” she added.

I almost sing 18 songs at this age. I am always on stage.”

Her debut film track was ‘Chala Chala Nav Bala’ for the 1943 Marathi film ‘Majha Bal”’ From lively numbers like ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ and ‘O Haseena Zulfon Wali’ to heartfelt ghazals such as ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ and the classical rendition of ‘Tora Man Darpan Kehlaye’, she boasts an impressive repertoire of around 12,000 songs spanning across various languages. Asha Bhosle, the second of the five Mangeshkar siblings with Lata Mangeshkar being the eldest, graced the stage for her last performance in Dubai on September 8, 2023, marking her 90th birthday.
