New Delhi: In a statement issued after attending the BRICS Health Ministers’ Meeting on the sidelines of the 77th World Health Assembly at Geneva, Union Health Secretary P. Apurva Chandra said that the BRICS nations must strengthen their cooperation in the area of health, a PIB press release stated.
He said that the BRICS Vaccine Research and Development Centre, which was launched by India during its presidency, will now work with other partner Institutes for the conduct of phase-3 clinical trials of the recombinant dengue vaccine. He said that a national action plan on AMR launched by the country in 2017 focuses on cross-sectoral collaboration and the One Health approach and is in alignment with the objectives outlined in the WHO’s Global Action Plan.
“India acknowledges the importance of advancing collaboration within BRICS countries in nuclear medicine and radio-pharmaceutical science, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the radio-pharmaceutical supply chain and enhancing isotopes production, alongside fostering the development and commercialization of advanced digital solutions,” he added. The Union Health Secretary also urged the member states to enhance collaboration and work together to find solutions to various health challenges. The meeting was also attended by other high-ranking officials of the Union Health Ministry.
