Rajkumar Santoshi directorial’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in lead roles gained popularity after its run in the theatres and enjoys cult status. The film was also popular for its characters like Amar, Prem, Karishma, Raveena, Teja, and Crime Master Gogo, each earning a fan following of its own.
But, did you know that Shakti Kapoor was not the first choice for the role of Crime Master Gogo? Yes, You read it right! In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Shakti Kapoor shared that he came on board the project, almost towards the end of its filming.Kapoor revealed that Crime Master Gogo was supposed to be played by Tinnu Anand, and since Anand was abroad during the time of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’s shoot and couldn’t return on time, the makers approached him as he was filming for another movie nearby.
Elaborating further, Kapoor shared that 70 per cent of the filming was already completed. Though he wanted to work with Santoshi and the movie’s producer was his friend, he expressed concerns about starting the filming in three days, citing date issues.
Shakti Kapoor suggested a compromise, proposing that they could shoot his scenes during the night if the other stars were fine with this arrangement. Kapoor explained that he reached out to Tinnu, asking if he was okay with him playing the role instead of him. Fortunately, he had no reservations.Kapoor also revealed that both Gogo’s outfit and the iconic dialogue “ankhen nikalke goti khelunga” were the creative contributions of Tinnu Anand.
