EAM S Jaishankar to lead Indian delegation at 19th NAM summit in Uganda | India News

NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation at the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda on January 19-20. Before the Summit, there will be discussions at the ministerial and senior-level officials. Minister of state (MoS) for external affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh will represent India at the NAM foreign minister’s meeting. MoS external affairs V Muraleedharan will represent India at the G-77 Third South Summit. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement regarding this.
The 19th NAM Summit, with Uganda as the host country, will focus on ‘Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence’ and will bring together more than 120 developing countries. India fully supports Uganda’s theme for NAM and is eager to engage with the movement under Uganda’s leadership. As a founding member of NAM, India remains committed to its principles and values, as stated by the MEA.
During the NAM Summit, EAM Jaishankar is expected to meet with the Ugandan leadership and counterparts from other NAM member states. Following the Summit, Jaishankar will travel to Nigeria for an official visit from January 21-23. He will co-chair the 6th India-Nigeria Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) and meet with other leaders. Additionally, he will inaugurate the 3rd edition of the Nigeria-India Business Council meeting, deliver a speech at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, interact with CII Business delegates, and inaugurate the bust of Mahatma Gandhi. Jaishankar will also chair the regional conference of Indian Heads of Missions.
India and Nigeria have long enjoyed close and friendly relations. This visit by EAM Jaishankar will further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, as mentioned in the release.
