Soon after Google rolled out Chrome 108 update, Microsoft has announced the Edge 108 update for its users. The new update is now available to all Edge users on Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. The Edge 108 update brings several new features and improvements. First and foremost, the update brings a security issue (CVE-2022-4262) that was based on the Chromium engine. Note: The same security issue was also present in the older version of the Chrome browser.
Apart from that, the Edge 108 update also brings new graph APIs and an updated Windows Defender SmartScreen library. The new Graph APIs allow administrators to create and manage their site for Internet Explorer mode in the cloud.
The Microsoft Defender SmartScreen library update improves the browser’s overall security. The company has also mentioned that they have rewritten the entire Defender integration making it more effective for the browser.
In addition to this, Microsoft has published a new blog post about Edge’s sleeping tabs. The company has mentioned that the Sleeping tabs feature is doing fine and it manages to reduce about 83% of memory consumption to improve the system performance.
How to update Edge to its latest version — Edge 108
To update Edge browser to its latest version, click on the three dots at the top right corner. Head to Settings and then click on the About Microsoft Edge option. Here, you’ll see that the Edge is automatically checking for the latest available update. Also, once the update is found it will be automatically installed and the browser will ask you to relaunch it.
On mobile devices, head to the respective app stores — Google Play Store on Android and Apple App Store on iOS. Search for the Edge browser and then tap on the Update button.
