Government signs MoU with CSC to aid migrant workers

New Delhi: The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CSC eGovernance Services India Limited to leverage the services of Common Services Centers (CSCs) in providing e Migrate services, a PIB press release stated. As per the agreement, the CSCs will play an integral role in facilitating the registration, uploading and processing of required documents by migrant workers and applicants through the e Migrate portal.

The MoU was signed by Joint Secretary (OE & PGE), Division, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Joint Secretary (DigiGov), MeitY and Chief Operating Officer, CSC eGovernance Services India Limited. The e Migrate project aims to assist migrant workers, especially blue-collar workers, in going abroad by making the emigration process easier and more secure. This initiative was conceptualised keeping in mind the problems faced by migrant workers and promoting safe and legal migration.

The agreement seeks to create awareness about e Migrate services among citizens across India and facilitate their smooth registration and processing. This will also help in strengthening the Digital India initiative and enabling a financially inclusive society. With the help of CSCs, the government aims to expand the channels of safe and legal migration and prevent exploitation from unscrupulous elements.

The MoU is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of migrant workers and strengthen the overall economy of the country.
