NEW DELHI: Kangra constituency is one of the 4 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Himachal Pradesh and comprises seventeen legislative assembly segments. It is a General category parliamentary seat comprising parts of Chamba district and Kangra district.
The literacy rate in the Lok Sabha constituency is 73.05%. In 2019, the Kangra parliamentary constituency had a total of 1,427,338 electors.Kishan Kapoor of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing a total of 725,218 votes. Pawan Kajal of the Indian National Congress stood second with a total of 247,595 votes, experiencing a defeat margin of 477,623 votes.
In 2014, the Kangra parliamentary constituency recorded a total of 1,258,601 electors. Shanta Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party won, securing a total of 456,163 votes. Chander Kumar of the Indian National Congress stood second with a total of 286,091 votes, losing by 170,072 votes.
