‘Let Congress play politics’: BJP neta on G20 dinner invite

NEW DELHI: Even as Congress functionaries, including Rahul Gandhi, have raised the issue of “no invitation” to party president Mallikarjuna Kharge for the President’s G20 dinner, BJP has chosen not to give any official reaction on the issue.
However, a few BJP sympathisers cited that even party chief JP Nadda had not been invited and that Congress is indulging in petty politics at a time when the country is hosting the most powerful group of world leaders.
“The G20 summit is a great opportunity for the country. We have to rise above political lines and contribute positively. However, if Congress continues to play politics, let them do it. We are not going to get involved in mudslinging,” a senior BJP functionary said.
On not being invited to the G20 dinner, Kharge said, “I have already reacted to it. It is not good politics, and they (Centre) should not do such low-level politics.”
BJP sympathisers on social media also posted the recent photo of the vacant chair assigned to Kharge during the Independence Day celebrations as he skipped the ceremony but took part his party’s Independence Day celebrations.
CMs Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh (Bhupesh Baghel) and Rajasthan (Ashok Gehlot) had cited restrictions at the airport to express inability to attend the G20 dinner hosted by the President. However, the government clarified that there were no such restrictions and only some formalities needed to be done.
