Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizes Republicans’ focus on media over accountability

NEW DELHI: During a recent appearance on CNN, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene candidly acknowledged that Republicans prioritize media appearances and online discussions over tangible work for the public.
“Republican voters across the country are sick and tired of Republicans because they never do anything to hold this government accountable,” Greene told CNN’s Manu Raju on Monday.
“I feel like many of the American people that think that Republicans in Congress completely fail them, I feel the same way. And I’m a Republican member of Congress,” Greene added.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ability to manage her own priorities has come into question. Instead of addressing the impending government shutdown, she has been focusing on her efforts to censure Representative Rashida Tlaib. Greene’s initial censure resolution accused Tlaib of various offenses, including sympathizing with terrorist organizations and leading an insurrection at the Capitol.
However, this language did not garner enough support from fellow Republicans, and many found it legally and factually unsubstantiated. This led to a failed vote to table the resolution, causing tensions within the Republican caucus.
Now, Greene has presented a revised censure resolution for consideration, set to be voted on this week. In contrast, other House Republicans are directing their efforts towards tackling full-year spending bills, although the likelihood of their passage in the Senate remains uncertain.
According to Reuters, with the government shutdown deadline approaching on November 17, the divergence in priorities within the Republican party is becoming increasingly evident.
