BHOPAL: The first decisions taken by chief minister Mohan Yadav give an insight into the priorities of the new government, spanning from law and order to education, e-governance and tribal welfare.
“These decisions have been taken with foresight and will benefit the state and all citizens,” CM Yadav said at a press conference after the first cabinet meeting in the evening.The CM’s very first order after taking oath was for a ban on loudspeakers that violate decibel norms at religious places or otherwise. The ADG-CID has been appointed nodal officer at the police HQ for this.
The CM also ordered a ban on unlicenced buying and selling of meat and fish in the open in urban areas, announced a ‘PM Excellence College’ in every district, legal action for cancellation of bail of ‘habitual criminals’, mandatory uploading of certificates and marksheets on DigiLocker, and a hike in tendu patta payout to Rs 4,000.

And in the centre were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Mangubhai Patel and Mohan Yadav. When PM Modi walked up to the stage, he took the chair on the right while Governor Mangubhai Patel took the seat at the centre. Yadav stood next to PM Modi. The Prime Minister then took him by the hand and showed him to the chair on the left.
After Yadav took oath, former finance minister and eight time MLA Jagdish Devda was sworn in as deputy CM, followed by former minister and five-time MLA Rajendra Shukla in the same post. The ceremony was completed in 20 minutes.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav first contested and won the election in 2013 and then again in 2018. In July 2020, he was appointed minister for higher education in the fourth term of the Shivraj government. He won the November 2023 assembly election from his Ujjain-South seat and was announced CM designate after the BJP legislative party meeting on Monday.
