The purported sale took place in the foyer of a building in Labrador about 11.30pm on January 5, according to police.

Police said the phone had been advertised for sale online.

The footage shows the man and woman appearing to be in discussion about the phone.

The woman hands over the phone to the man, who apparently refuses to give it back.

He is seen running from the scene, with the woman, and another person with her, chasing the man.

The woman was not injured.

The man has not yet been arrested, police said on Wednesday morning.

Police have asked for anyone who can identify the man to come forward.
