Despite no tie-up in Punjab, both parties remain part of INDIA bloc at national level, with seat-sharing agreements in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa and Chandigarh.
On March 31, the bloc will hold a mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan in support of Kejriwal. There is no official communication yet from the high command about participating in the March 31 rally, but most Punjab Congress leaders are averse to the idea and have instead called for going all-out against Bhagwant Mann-led AAP govt.
This unanimous sentiment against backing Kejriwal emerged in Tuesday’s Punjab Congress meeting for election planning that was attended by Devendra Yadav, party’s political affairs in-charge for the state, state unit chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, ex-ministers O P Soni, Pargat Singh, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Brahm Mohindra and Tripat Rajinder Bajwa, and ex-speaker Rana K P Singh, among others.
The state netas pointed out that AAP govt had advertised its actions against Congress leaders, including Soni, ex-ministers Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, ex-CM Charanjit Singh Channi and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, across country.
