BATHINDA: Resident of Muktsar in Punjab, Satinderjit Singh more known as Goldy Brar, on Monday was declared as designated terrorist by union home ministry under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Brar is presumed to be the mastermind of the killing of rapper Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moosewala as Goldy had taken responsibility hours after the cold blooded murder on May 29, 2022.
Earlier on May 1, 2023, Goldy Brar was put on the list of 25 most wanted in Canada under its ‘be on the lookout’ (BOLO) programme. He was shown wanted by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Under BOLO, the pictures of the most wanted are put all across even on billboards for people to provide any information about them.
Earlier Interpol had issued a red corner notice against him in 2022 upon the matter raised by Indian authorities.
During the killing of Sidhu Moosewala, Goldy Brar was suspecting to be putting up in Canada but later it was stated that he was in California, USA and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during campaigning for elections in Gujrat on December 2, 2022, had claimed that Goldy Brar has been detained in California and Indian authorities are in touch with police to get him back to the country.
Son of a Punjab police cop, Goldy Brar had migrated to Canada on a student visa in 2017 but started running criminal activities after turning as close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
However, in the notification issued by union government, it has been stated that Goldy Brar, who presently lives in Canada’s Brampton, is associated with the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa.
It was stated that Goldy Brar who is backed by a cross-border agency, was involved in multiple killings and professes radical ideology, figured in making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom and posting the claims of killings on different social media platforms.
It has been stated that Goldy Brar has been involved in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border and supplying them for violent activities.
It has also been stated Brar has been conspiring to disrupt the peace, communal harmony and law and order of Punjab through nefarious designs including sabotage, raising of terror modules, carrying out targeted killings and other anti-national activities.
He had also taken the responsibility of the killing of dera sacha sauda member Pardeep Singh at Kotkapura on November 10, 2022.
