Barbieâs chances of sweeping the Academy Awards may be looking slimmer, but the odds of the movie nonetheless dominating this yearâs ceremony have increased with reports that Ryan Gosling will perform Iâm Just Ken.
Variety reports that Gosling will perform the keynote anthem from Greta Gerwigâs smash hit comedy at the event on 10 March. Speaking to the magazine earlier this month, Gosling said that he hadnât then been invited to sing.
âIt might be too much of a risk to have me do it,â said Gosling, who is widely expected to lose out in the best supporting actor race to Robert Downey Jr.
âI donât know how that would work. But Iâm open to it.â
Speaking to Variety at the Grammy awards, the songâs co-composer, Mark Ronson, said he would love Gosling to perform the song at the Oscars.
The Academy has not confirmed the booking to the Guardian, but has been contacted for comment.
Both Iâm Just Ken and What Was I Made For? are nominated for best song at the awards; Barbie is nominated in eight categories overall, but not best actress for Margot Robbie, or best director for Greta Gerwig.
The first round of presenters at the Academy Awards was announced on Monday, with Mahershala Ali, Nicolas Cage, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey, Lupita Nyongâo, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ke Huy Quan, Sam Rockwell, Michelle Yeoh and Zendaya among the names.
