Sonia was filmed tip-toeing through the Big Brother house in the lead-up to the first eviction of the 2023 season.

It was then that she revealed her big news – a first in the show’s history in Australia.

“I have a little surprise for our housemates,” Sonia said.

“Because for the first time ever, I’ll be doing the eviction from inside the house.”

While evictions are usually held in an external area, in front of a crowd, Big Brother is keeping things a lot more intimate this year.

As a result, the housemates were asked to go one-by-one to the Diary Room to cast their vote – while Sonia and the housemates waited in another room.

Earlier in the show, Luke won the first challenge of the 2023 series and was given the power to nominate three housemates for eviction.

As a result, Jake, Quan and Zach were placed in the firing line – and after a tense vote, Quan narrowly lost to Zach and was booted from the house.

“I was quite surprised, I honestly thought one of the boys were going to be evicted tonight,” Quan said after her exit.

“But unfortunately that’s the Big Brother house – expect the unexpected.”

Big Brother continues Wednesday 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
