Beauty fans looking to get a better night’s sleep have discovered a $42 cream – described as a “relaxation in a jar” – from Mecca.
Melbourne-born skincare brand kit has launched Unwind Body Balm, a new magnesium-enriched cream that’s said to keep your skin deeply hydrated while you sleep.
The jar contains hero ingredients to help you nod off – including magnesium, a calming agent mineral known to promote relaxation, wild indigo extract and shea butter to soothe overworked skin.

The vegan, cruelty-free moisturiser consists of a herbaceous, grounding scent to prepare the body for rest with notes including rosemary, spearmint, lavender and eucalyptus.
Melbourne artist Silk Cartwright revealed how she keeps the body balm next to her bed so she can apply on her skin every night for a “nice relaxing sleep”.
“This is a little selfcare step that feels so luxurious,” she said.
“The balm has magnesium in it which is so good for your muscles and it also smells like lavender and rosemary – it’s so relaxing.”
And it’s not hard to see why it’s become a go-to bedtime product.
Shoppers have given the product a perfect-five star rating online.
“It’s a relaxation in a jar. Love this cream. I’ve been sleeping better,” one said.
Another shared: “This is everything it promises and so much more. Smells and feels amazing like a lovely relaxing cocoon around your body. The perfect way to end your day before bed.”
One revealed: “The body balm made me feel beautiful and relaxed. Pure sleepy time bliss. Definitely a positive vibe balm.”
While another added: “I am now completely converted to kit. I just purchased a jar of this gorgeous body balm, it’s so thick and super moisturising. Not overly perfumed and it feels so luxurious on my skin! Thanks kit and Mecca for supplying the goods.”
Meanwhile, one customer said she believed kit’s body balm was an affordable version of Aesop, an Australian luxury brand.
“I have never ran quicker for a body product than this, I’m a picky person when it comes to body moisturisers but this one is perfect for me. It doesn’t leave any thick residue, sinks it’s perfectly and smells divine. Love it,” she said.
“kit is essentially a brand that is similar to Aesop. If you love the Aesop aesthetic and how their products are formulated definitely give kit a try as it is on par with Aesop for a more budget-friendly person.”
