Tiny detail in Christmas tree wowing Kmart shoppers: ‘This is genius’

Kmart shoppers with small living spaces are now putting up half a Christmas tree — leaving many amazed over the simple tweak.

One woman, from New Zealand, said she’s been setting up just one side of the branches — saving her plenty of space as well as the hassle of decorating around the back where no one ever sees.

“Just wanted to share this hack we discovered a few years ago, the half tree, twice as bushy, half the space,” she said in a Facebook group.

Her post was met with 165 “likes” with many praising the set up as “genius”.

“I’ve actually never thought about not putting my back branches on, such a clever idea. We always put our tree in the corner and never decorate the back, but I think not putting the branches on in the first place will be a better option,” one shared.

Another said: “Ooohh! Love this! Can save more space.”

And she’s not alone — with many confessing they do the same space-saving trick at home every year.

“I don’t put the back branches on my tree… I fill in the gaps and it looks fuller,” one shared.

Another revealed: “I do the same too, always suggest this to everyone who has limited space and want to make their tree look fuller.”

One suggested: “All my branches are bent to the front, looks so much nicer and less space to the wall.”

Meanwhile, one asked: “How do you stop the weight of the tree pulling over? It’s all bunched to the front.”

The woman replied: “There’s never been an issue. We just use three quarter of the legs and push against the wall.”
