Unsuspecting women victims of voyeurism at drug store: Cops

Police are warning the public after an Etobicoke man was charged with voyeurism for allegedly taking pictures under the skirts and dresses of unsuspecting women at a Burlington drug store.

Halton Regional Police said they were called to the Shoppers Drug Mart at 4524 New St., near Appleby Line, on June 25 after receiving reports of a man using his cellphone to take upskirt photos.

The man fled before police arrived.

Police said that investigators then identified seven separate incidents of voyeurism at the store on June 25, July 8 and Aug. 7 and in most cases the victims were unaware they were being photographed.

Mohammed Abdals El-Sheikh, 37, was arrested on Thursday and charged with criminal harassment and seven counts of voyeurism.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and a photo of the accused was released. Anyone with information or who may have been victimized is asked to contact 905-825-4747, Ext. 2385, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
